PASS is seeking experienced Software Engineers to join the team. The position is full-time and is based in our new office in Zurich, Switzerland. We are hiring engineers to develop leading edge web and mobile applications for M2M and crowd-sourcing.

The Web Solutions Engineer will lead the implementation for global web-based applications, including all aspects of web development – requirements gathering and documentation, software development, testing, user documentation and training, execution and on-going support and maintenance. You will work closely with a cross functional team, using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. Among your many attributes, you are a self-starter who is comfortable with a rapidly changing environment, and you have a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions using one or more of the following: PHP, Perl or Python.
  • Work with SQL Server and MySQL, SQL coding, physical database design and stored procedures.
  • Thoroughly document new and existing applications.
  • Ensure security, backups, redundancy, etc.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science (or related experience) preferred with at least 2 years developing web based applications.
  • Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
  • Analytical abilities and a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Experience leading short projects involving outside teams is a plus.
  • Solid scripting skills in Shell, PHP, Perl or Python. Familiarity with one or more of ColdFusion, Visual Basic, JavaScript, D/HTML, Java, C/C++, JSP, AJAX, CSS and XML a plus.
  • Expertise in Unix/Linux system administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation. MySQL is a plus. Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server a plus.

As the Manager of Software Engineering (MSE), the incumbent is primarily responsible for ensuring that their team has the guidance, direction, and resources to deliver on their commitments. The MSE is tasked with both the leadership and development of the software engineering staff as well the efficient and effective management of software releases. The MSE facilitates the development and delivery of high-quality software releases on time and in budget.

Essential Functions

  • Manage task assignments and schedules for our local and nearshore software engineering team
  • Lead the design, development, integration testing, and delivery of high quality software releases into the test and production environments
  • Manage the software engineering team’s efforts on multiple simultaneous active software development projects
  • Coordinate work and communication between the software engineering teams and QA, marketing, and professional services groups
  • Ensure that PASS software assets are protected with thorough and consistent configuration management processes
  • Perform personnel management functions for multiple direct reports including career development, establishing objectives, and performing salary and performance reviews
  • Implement and enforce software engineering best practices
  • Provide software development estimates
